Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you’ve never done it before. Knowing what to expect can take a lot of the pressure off.
The first conversation
Your first session is mostly about getting to know each other. John will ask what brought you in, what you’d like to change, and a bit about your background. You decide how much to share, and there are no wrong answers.
Deciding on an approach
John uses different modalities depending on what fits you best. Together you’ll talk about the most appropriate ways to help you make progress, and how often you’d like to meet.
A few tips
- Jot down a few thoughts beforehand about what you’d like help with.
- Ask questions, including about fees, scheduling, and confidentiality.
- Notice how you feel afterward. A good fit matters.
If something here resonates, you don’t have to figure it out alone. John offers a free 15-minute consultation, in person in Phoenix or online for clients in Arizona, Texas, and Colorado. Reach out to schedule a time.
